WHOAMI

Hey there! I’m Axzel, a DevOps engineer and cloud infrastructure specialist with a passion for building robust, scalable systems that just work. Currently based in Los Patios, Norte del Santander, Colombia, I’ve been fortunate to work with amazing teams across the globe, particularly in the US healthcare and technology sectors.

My Journey

My story starts with a Physics degree from Universidad de Oriente, which gave me a solid foundation in problem-solving and analytical thinking. But like many of us in tech, I found myself drawn to the practical magic of computers and networks. I complemented my physics background with a technical degree in Computer Science, and that’s where my love affair with technology truly began.

Over the past 15+ years, I’ve worn many hats – from government developer in Venezuela to industrial IT head, and now as the CEO of my own company, “Axenxio LLC” I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse organizations, from liquor distilleries to cutting-edge health tech companies, always focusing on one thing: making technology work seamlessly for people.

What I Do (And Love Doing)

I’m deeply passionate about DevOps and Cloud Infrastructure. There’s something incredibly satisfying about designing systems that scale gracefully, deploy automatically, and recover elegantly from failures. My expertise spans:

  • Cloud Platforms: AWS (where I hold multiple certifications including DevOps Engineer Professional), Azure, and Google Cloud
  • Containerization & Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, K3s, Rancher – I love the elegance of containerized applications
  • Infrastructure as Code: CloudFormation, Terraform, Helm Charts
  • CI/CD Automation: From Jenkins to GitHub Actions, I believe in letting machines do what they do best
  • Database Administration: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, SQL Server – both single instances and clustered environments
  • Programming: Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, Bash, GO – whatever the problem needs

What Drives Me

I’m particularly excited about Machine Learning and AI these days. I work with LLM training, CUDA tools, PyTorch, and Transformers. There’s something magical about building systems that can learn and adapt, and I love being at the intersection of infrastructure and AI.

Security is another passion of mine. In today’s world, building secure systems isn’t optional – it’s fundamental. I work with tools like AlienVault, JFrog, and various penetration testing frameworks to ensure the systems I build are not just fast and reliable, but also secure.

Beyond the Technical

When I’m not knee-deep in YAML files or debugging Kubernetes clusters, I enjoy the challenge of leading and mentoring development teams. I’ve managed teams of up to 11 developers across different projects, and I find that the human side of technology – understanding how teams work together – is just as important as the technical architecture.

I’m fluent in both Spanish (my native language) and English, which has opened doors to work with international teams and understand diverse technical perspectives.

Currently

These days, I’m working as a contractor with various US-based companies, primarily in the healthcare sector, focusing on cloud infrastructure engineering and DevOps automation. I’m particularly drawn to projects that involve complex, multi-cloud deployments and automated scaling solutions.

I also hold multiple certifications from AWS and UiPath, and I’m always learning – this field moves fast, and staying current is both a necessity and a joy.
